SHANG XIA collaborates with contemporary Chinese artist Huang Yuxing to present a limited edition cigar box as a collaborative piece exclusively for collectors. The pattern is based on Huang Yuxing’s iconic artwork Bubble.
The cigar box is of a refined shape, with internal dividers for daily storage; the compartments are adjustable to accommodate cigars of different sizes. The box is equipped with a hygrometer and humidifier to better ensure the freshness and quality of the cigars. The surface is treated with 15 layers of transparent piano lacquer which brings the artwork to life at its true colours. The bottom foot is painted in black piano lacquer to highlight its bright texture.
Bubble was inspired by Huang Yuxing’s exploration of “rivers” and “whirlpools” and depicts the bubbles produced by a churning river, reflecting the individual human experience from a micro-perspective. The existence of these bubbles symbolizes instantaneous disillusionment while also briefly embodying eternity, revealing the multi-faceted nature of the unity of opposites. Irregular oval shapes in dark blue, pink, purple, and vermilion hues overlap in perspective, changing the colours in their wake and creating a sense of lightness and joy through their collisions. In its exquisite details, it nurtures the spirit, embraces exceptional elegance, and embodies a pursuit of life's aesthetic beauty.
