Garden Collection Cast Iron Teakettle
Product Description
The Cast Iron Pot draws inspiration from the iconic Taihu stone, a signature symbol across SHANG XIA’s collections. This extends the classic designs of the Garden series into tea ware. As a typical water-boiling vessel in tea ceremonies, the properties of the cast iron pot can help enhance the authentic flavors of tea, resulting in a smooth and refreshing finish like the taste of spring water.
The entire production is completed in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, Japan, where the technique of lost wax casting was established around 1624 and it has been inherited as traditional industrial art of the region for about 400 years. It is crafted by skilled artisan Kita Shobee using the lost wax casting technique, ensuring a well-rounded and solid form. The design language is distilled into minimalist modernism with refined lines and textures. The pot is meticulously cast as a single piece, showcasing exquisite technique through an appearance devoid of any unnecessary embellishments. It resembles an aesthetic symbol of the unity of form and spirit, elegantly outlining the effortless flowing charm of Eastern philosophy. The surface displays a textured rock-like finish that adds depth and warmth to the piece. The lid knob is delicately carved in the shape of an exquisite Taihu stone, with a fine gold-plated finish, subtly revealing the texture of the cast iron.
